Conference by Philippe Charlier, forensic doctor, anatomo-pathologist, archaeo-anthropologist and palaeopathologist
How to preserve human remains in a museum, keeping them in optimal conditions while also showing them the respect they are due?
How to present them, then, in what context and in what form?
With the triple perspective of the forensic doctor, the anthropologist and the archaeologist, but also informed by a thesis on ethics concerning «the status of the dead body,» we will attempt to answer these fundamental questions that, at times, make certain museums into rather peculiar cemeteries.
This conference is being offered as part of our exhibition: «Exit the Invisible: The Unreserved Collection».»
